New update! Which farmers are eligible for Roshan Gharana scheme in 2024

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of the Punjab Farmers Solar Panel Scheme 2024, a landmark project designed to empower farmers and sell sustainable electricity. This innovative project aims to provide free solar panels to qualified farmers across the province to harness the power of renewable energy sources and decrease their dependence on conventional energy sources.

The program aims to provide farmers with 50,000 solar systems with state-of-the-art solar panels, batteries, inverters and other essential components. By providing clean energy at reasonable prices to farmers, the government aims to reduce their dependence on the traditional energy grid, reduce energy costs and promote sustainable farming methods.

Eligible farmers

To ensure equitable allocation and optimal leverage, regulatory bodies have established unequivocal qualification requirements for farmers to participate in the solar energy program:

• Candidate must reside in Punjab and actively engaged in agriculture; Small and marginal farmers with less than two hectares of land may be preferred.
• Farmers can get preference if their monthly energy bills total less than one hundred devices.
• The applicant must present essential documentation, such as identity documents and land records, and have a valid bank account.

Cooperation with China

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister, also praised China's cooperation in the solar panel project. In a meeting with the Chairman of the State Construction Engineering Corporation of China, Wang Yaodong, he highlighted Pakistan's ability to collaborate with China in the field of renewable energy.
